Citroen stars on Bangers & Cash

Citroen Light on Bangers and Cash

The Citroen starting the journey to Inverness.

It’s a theme of any Bangers and Cash episode to follow a car from seller via auction to buyer, particularly when the car has an old and new story to tell! In short, this Citroen Light 15 came from an estate in Kent, from the son of Winston Churchhill’s official portrait painter. The car ended up in Culburnie Classic Car collection via an initial unsuccessful online bid but a subsequent successful verbal offer the next day, better meeting its reserve price! This model has always been a joint father and son vision, who were looking to source the same model that Tommy drove in the 1960’s, whilst courting Anne, as borne out in the black and white photos of John’s mum and dad posing separately by the original Citroen Light 15 outside the original Culburnie Croft house. Fast forward over 60 years later and spot the difference? No it’s not the grey hair or wrinkles, this earlier Light 15 was in fact a French built left hand drive model, as opposed to the current Slough built right hand drive model!

The filming may have taken all day for our short appearance towards the end of this episode but it was a fantastic experience and gave us a glimpse in to what happens behind the scenes in the production of our favourite TV series!

The Citroen was of course the real star.
