Memory Lane

When there’s no space left in the garage, the barn or on the gravel driveway, we sometimes have to part with a cherished Culburnie Classic Car to make way for a ‘new’ kid on the block.

Although the parting can be tough, there is some reward in passing on the driving pleasure to another enthusiast to embark on new adventures.

Land Rover Series 2

Gone but not forgotten

Land Rover Series 2 (1982)

This vehicle was acquired from Tommy’s best friend and best man at his wedding, Ian Maclean, also a Culburnie near neighbour. Bought new by Ian in 1982, this Land Rover was never worked too hard by Ian and whilst it passed on to Tommy, it ultimately lay relatively unused for 15 years just sitting in the barn. An ex-school friend of John’s, Kevin Matheson, was interested in a Series 2 project and so we decided to let this one finally go, not only because it was going to a good home but because it was staying local. Kevin has since ‘done it up’ very nicely and it is nice seeing it back on the road, where all good classics should be!
